I am a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and music educator who composes music for instrumental ensembles, makes sound art, and performs as a solo and ensemble artist on accordion, guitar, and keyboard.
I am a music educator with 30+ years of teaching experience, and have taught students ages 0 to 88. I’m currently offering private lessons on the guitar, bass, keyboard or accordion, as well as music classes through the Lawrence Arts Center and the Americana Music Academy.
I have a BA in Music and MFA in Digital Arts and New Media from the University of California at Santa Cruz and an Orff Schulwerk teaching certification and MA in Music Composition from Mills College.
My professional experience includes:
Writing, recording and touring with various rock bands (Camper Van Beethoven, Small Birds of Sound, Monks of Doom, and the Mekons)
Recording and performing as a solo children’s music artist
Conducting and singing in choirs
Providing K-8 music instruction in public schools
Providing Orff Schulwerk 0-5 early childhood music education
Lecturing in composition, orchestration, and music theory at the college level
Creating sound art and sound design for theatrical productions
Engineering, producing, recording, mixing and mastering music using LogicPro
